From Warwick Johnson Cadwell:

“Here’s that grumpy christmas greeting from last year, in similar doldrums at present. Though prompted by Mr Andrew Cheverton (Angry Candy maestro) here he is (hopefully, should be) available for hi res download. Unfortunately, it bares all the smudges and mistakes at close view. But if you have someone in mind for this particular bit of cheer then print it and send it too em.”

I meant for Warwick to maybe print these up for Christmas cards next year, but he’s so lovely he’s giving them away right now. If you need a last minute Christmas card, this is the one for you.

Above is a page of Warwick Johnson Cadwell’s original art for Fort Eyrie, as seen recently in the pages of West: Stray Bullets. Warwick is selling pages of this strip - as well as other pages of singularly striking art - here, for what can only be described as exceedingly reasonable prices.

Stray Bullets reviewed at Forbidden Planet

Richard Bruton has reviewed West: Stray Bullets over at the Forbidden Planet blog.

Of the script, Richard says:

“Cheverton’s stories, as usual, are a clever and perplexing mix of interesting clues to the mystery of West, wrapped up in some great storytelling… Every time a new issue comes out, I can’t help but go right back to the beginning and find even more connections, more little elements that go to prove how tightly Cheverton has the entire saga mapped out.”

Richard seemed to (eventually) enjoy the guest artists, too:

“Each artist brings something different to their tales, and they’ve been picked well for the stories they have to tell; whether it’s the beautiful scratchiness of Warwick Johnson Cadwell on a bizarre jail-break for West, the more cartoon style of Rainey giving a comedic touch to the monster in Badwater Lake,  or the simpler, more romantic imagery of Jenika Ioffreda on a very early West tale, of childhood sweethearts Joe and Eloise.

“Of them all though, it was Emma Price’s art that got me going the most – possibly because it was, in a rather simpler and heavier inked sense, the most like Keable’s and suited the story of West very well. “

The full review is here, and you can buy Stray Bullets, and other West comics and books, here.

Debuting at the Bristol International Comic & Small Press Expo, 14th-15th of May. Six stories, six artists; 32 pages for £3.50.

This is an Influence Map, a meme which seems to be doing the rounds at the moment (I found it here and here). This is a list of all the comic artists which inspire and inform my own drawing. Took longer than I thought, because once you start digging through the art of artists you admire, you can lose hours and hours - but it was well worth the time.
One thing I only noticed when it was done - I picked a lot of black and white art. I love black and white comics. Click the pic to embiggen.
