Two minute pencil sketch of Obi-Wan Kenobi, drawn on the back of a receipt, photographed with Hipstamatic.
Diseños no utilizados para Thaddeus Mist.
My contribution to AccentUK’s ‘collaborative graphic novel’ Who on Earth was Thaddeus Mist? is to be illustrated (beautifully, if the roughs and designs I’ve seen are any indication) by Jack Tempest. However, originally, my The End collaborator FH Navarro pitched, at my suggestion, for the task. He has recently posted his designs on his own site, and I thought it would be interesting to display them here.
Watching John Boorman’s Point Blank last night, starring Lee Marvin as Walker (adapted from the Richard Stark novel, The Hunter). Did a couple of moleskine sketches of Marvin - this one was the better of the two.

My Bride of Frankenstein art has been framed and hung in Orbital Comics as part of their HORRIFIC: CHARITY COMIC ART SALE & EXHIBITION, one aspect of their Long Halloween series of events, which also includes appearances by John Watkiss and Mike Allred. The Horrific exhibition has been extended until Wednesday, and all art is for sale, with proceeds donated to charity.
From October 21st-23rd, Orbital Comics in Great Newport Street, London, are hosting a Halloween art exhibition and sale:
“The Just 1 Page comics charity presents Horrific, a three day exhibition and art sale starting next Friday, including original artwork by Mike Carey and Charlie Adlard, signed prints by Tim Bradstreet (Hellblazer, Punisher, Blade, Unknown Soldier), Shaun of the Dead sculptures designed by Jesse Farrell and lots more.”
In the “lots more” category is the above illustration (both original art and a one-off coloured print) which I have contributed to the event. See here for more details.
A Sontaran, from BBC’s Doctor Who, done as a warm-up sketch this afternoon. This is one from the 1970s, when Sontarans were terrifying. This one looks a bit sad and lost, though…
“We’re a bunch of young offenders and not one of us knows how to steal a car? This is pathetic!”

My friend Nick Papaconstantinou (of Elephant Words and the MOMBcast) wanted to make an artbook for his wife on their first anniversary, so he asked a bunch of folk for illustrations based on his wife’s favourite things.
I did MisFits. The idea at the time was to make it look like a lo-fi vinyl single. So, yeah… it’s supposed to look like that.
Tim Keable did a Mulan illustration, and I also contributed one for 30 Days of Night. I’ll post them here as Nick puts them up.
Here is a lovely piece of West fan art from Spanish artist FHNavarro, received after he had enjoyed our West: Justice hardback.
Felipe and I are discussing working together on a comic project at the moment (isn’t it great how these things sometimes just happen?) which I hope to able to announce here pretty soon.

Current Twitter craze seems to be to have a go at drawing The Joker. Here you go.

I’m starting a new website, called Better, Drawn. Please read the info below and spread far and wide!
Hello and welcome to Better, Drawn.
Better, drawn is a new place for people to share stories about long-term and chronic mental and physical illnesses, told in the form of short comics. The site is a way for people to share experiences that might otherwise be difficult to talk about openly. In fact, we think that sometimes things can be said better when they’re drawn; hopefully, these comics might help some people feel better, too.
To get this website going, we’re looking for submissions. If you have experience with physical or mental health issues, or if you are close to someone who does, then you might like to consider submitting a comic for the site. You can visit our FAQ to find out more about how to send us your work. You don’t have to be an ‘artist’: just somebody with a story to share.
We could also do with your help to spread the word about this site. So please reblog this far and wide if you can, share the link via Facebook using those pesky ‘like’ buttons to the right, or tweet all about us. If that happens, we should be up and running in no time - and you’ll be able to follow our progress on Twitter, too.
So the only thing left to say is… get drawing!
