Jason Cobley has been busy recently, writing a slew of short comic strips featuring his character Captain Winston Bulldog. One of these scripts - a lovely 2-pager entitled Attic - is in the hands of Angry Candy’s Andrew Cheverton, who will be drawing it for inclusion in the ambitious Bulldog Clips anthology, currently a 60+ page, perfect bound collection bringing together a host of artists from the U.K. More details here.

Unfortunately, due to other commitments, Angry Candy will not be exhibiting at the Comica Comiket event at the Pumphouse Gallery, Battersea next weekend. From the website:
“After three of these annual independent comics fairs held at the ICA as past of the annual Comica Festival, this first special Summer Comica Comiket promises to bring together some of the most exciting independent comic publishers and titles. This event is taking place as part of the Hypercomics Exhibition at Pump House Gallery and will see over 50 stall holders come together in a massive marquee on the piazza of Pump House Gallery in Battersea Park.”
The Comica events are curated by noted comics publisher and expert Paul Gravett, and focus on the more esoteric and independent side of comics. It should be well worth a visit - admission is free.

There’s a very pleasing review of our West: Justice collection by Richard Bruton over on the Forbidden Planet blog. I love getting good reviews, but I love perceptive ones better, and this a great review on both counts…
“I’m very, very impressed with West; the story is a good mix of classic Western and something more intriguing. Cheverton’s pacing and dialogue is almost spot on throughout and Keable’s artwork looks good, no matter what the style he uses.”
Check out the link for the whole thing. Also this week, writer Jason Cobley plugged the Justice book on his website.
“I am mad about West: Justice by Andrew Cheverton and Tim Keable. West is a Western, moody, pacy, well-told. As you know, I did a Western for kids for The DFC which covered similar territory, entirely coincidentally. But that has nothing to do with why this is sooo good.”
Our thanks to both Richard and Jason. West: Justice is available from our Big Cartel storefront.

…to the new look Angry Candy website, now hosted on the easy to use interface of Tumblr. This should give us simple and attractive blogging options - pictures, updates, even video and audio, should we need it - as well as a new host of features designed for clarity and style. Best of all, we can now post to the site from our phones, meaning real time updates from comic conventions and similar events.
Over on the right there is the new Contact button. You can use that to send us a letter about any of our comics you may have read; or you can ask us any question you need answering - when is the next issue out, do you take commissions, marriage proposals, what do the saloon doors in West mean? That sort of thing.
Under the Contact button is the Search window. All posts will be tagged according to comic name, creator credit and categories such as genre, comic conventions and what have you. You should be able to easily find any relevant post using this function.
Below the Search window we have the Stuff! Buy Stuff will take you to our product subpage. This will list details of our current publications - currently the West: Distance comic and the West: Justice hardcover collection. These can now be purchased through the Angry Candy store hosted on Big Cartel, still using Paypal. The Free Stuff page lists various short strips available online to read for free. Some of these are hosted on sites run by other comic creators, so you might like to take a look around while you’re there.
The beauty of Tumblr is that it’s simple, clean and easy to use. So, while this page may look like this for a while, it can change at any time, bringing new looks and new features. We’ll be sure to update you on those as they appear.
